The Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust is responsible for operating two helicopter emergency medical services; one to the County of Essex and one to Hertfordshire and surrounding areas. Clinicians and life-saving support equipment can be rushed to the scene of an incident and the patient can be flown to an appropriate hospital, within minutes.
Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust, unlike NHS emergency services, is a Charity providing a free life-saving Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) for your County. Accidents & illnesses happen and when they do, patients, whatever their age, circumstances or location need specialist treatment fast. The speed with which our Air Ambulance Doctors & Paramedics can reach a patient, identify and administer processes to slow, halt or even reverse the effects of life threatening injury, is crucial in helping to save the patient and return them to full health. Patients can be airlifted to the most appropriate hospital quickly, maximising the aircrafts unique advantage of speed and versatility when minutes can make all the difference between life and death.
It costs in the region of £380,000 every month to cover all charitable costs and aircraft operations. We hope you or your loved ones never need us but thanks to the generosity and goodwill of the people and businesses of the County the service remains operational...we can't fly without you!
